November 28, 2018 12:06 PM PST
2 hours of me talking to Chris Burton (the man who ran the Golden Torch in Stoke on Trent from 1965 to 1972). The Torch was an iconic Northern Soul venue, started off as a Mod club, Chris was eventually persuaded by Colin Curtis and Keith Minshull to try Northern Soul as an added attraction. The club eventually attracted large audiences for their NS nights. Chris continued promoting Mod and scooter rally events after the club closed its doors for the last time. Although we didn't play much Northern Soul during the show (I'd assumed Chris would bring his own music which turned out to not be the case) there's a fair bit of quality soul to be had between the chat. Chris is a top guy and an interesting character so if you're into a bit of 60's mod chatter and classic soul in general it's a good listen.Heaven In The Afternoon 16th November

Latest instalment of the show, as ever 3 hours of soul both ancient and modern. Hoping to start adding a playlist as from next week but the thought of listing anything up to 50 or 60 tracks is a daunting prospect!! it will hopefully assist those of you looking for maybe an obscure tune but don't understand my rather bad 'Estuary English' accent. For listeners outside the UK that's a cross between the Cockney and Essex county accents - it certainly isn't a posh dialect by any means lol. Hope you enjoy the music regardless of my chatter.Heaven In The Afternoon 2nd November

Somewhat late but at last I've made time to publish this episode. My apologies ladies and gents, I'm trying to put these out faster but life seems to get in the way sometimes!! Anyway, enough of my inane dribblings, here's the show from a couple of weeks back, a few classic soul tunes mixed in with some album tracks and some slightly older (60's) and newer (80's onwards) material. The accent very much on soul as usual.Heaven In The Afternoon 26th September

After having fun (not!) with my desktop PC software this week I finally got last Friday's show uploaded. 3 hours of the usual, that is to say rare, classic and contemporary soul with the intention of starting the weekend the right way. Download, listen, comment, like, it doesn't matter as long as you enjoy it.Heaven In The Afternoon 19th October 2018

Last week's Friday afternoon soul show. As usual lots of classic, rare, album tracks and a few outliers from more recent times. If you haven't yet heard your favourite tune let me know and I'll do my best for you provided it's not one of those ultra rare four figure tunes! Enjoy.
Welcome to my podcast page which covers both of my weekly shows on Stompradio.com from the UK.
The Soulful Cocktail airs live every Wednesday at 6pm UK time and concentrates on contemporary soul, jazz, funk and dance music with the occasional oldie thrown in. It's an across the board mix of styles and genres which is where the show's name comes from. A tasty mixture it is too which will appeal to anyone who likes a fresh take on the 1990's and 2000's
My other regular outing, Heaven In The Afternoon, broadcasts live from 12 noon to 3pm UK each Friday and is a different affair altogether. It's a nostalgic trip back to the golden era of soul music from the 1960's through to the 1980's, a 3 hour extravaganza of classic, rare, modern and northern soul to delight the ears of all mature soul fans. You will definitely be in soul heaven with this one!
All commercial breaks have been edited out to enhance your listening pleasure although you will encounter the occasional station ident where my editing skills are less than perfect! Any feedback or comments are positively welcome, I'd love to hear from you.
